Hydrogen Queen Takes Off

Hydrogen burns, and Victor Sierra named their airship the Hydrogen Queen anyway.

Imperfect Meridians is the fifth album from Victor Sierra, a Paris steamgoth duo, Commander Bob and The Legendary Converted Princess, whose songs tell the adventures of that ship across 12 tracks.

Rock Out Stand Out’s Alfie Smith hears “a heavy mix of electronic sounds and punk vocals set against the backdrop of echoing metal rhythms”, with Bob on guitar and bass and the Princess singing. That’s a concept record, and I’m in.

Smith gave it 7 out of 10 and liked the first five tracks. His one reservation is the middle: “Halfway through the album, you might want to step out and put the kettle on”. Fine; the closer satisfies him, and I say a ship this stubborn about its gas has earned a slow stretch. I call it a win, and I want the CD. Streams on Spotify and YouTube, downloads on Amazon and iTunes, per Steampunk Explorer, and the band sells a CD on Bandcamp.
