Motoko Kusanagi, full cyborg operative, in the 2026 Ghost in the Shell anime series on Prime Video
Via: Prime Video

Science Saru (the studio that gave us Dandadan) just went and made the Ghost in the Shell adaptation the manga has deserved for thirty-plus years. Not a remake of the 1995 Oshii film. Not a sequel. An actual manga adaptation, beat for beat, with Motoko Kusanagi doing what Motoko Kusanagi does: being the most lethally competent cyborg in the room while Section 9 slowly assembles around her. Eight episodes in on Prime Video, episode 9 lands September 1. The Doctor has opinions about timeliness, and “fashionably late” is one of them, so consider this your warning shot.

Is it CyberPunk? Obviously. Does the Omega7Red Formulae apply? The Formulae was built for this. A full-conversion cyborg questioning the nature of consciousness inside a near-future surveillance state is basically the Formulae’s operating manual in anime form. If you have a Prime subscription and you have not started this yet, I don’t know what you’re doing with your life, but it’s wrong. High-5 to Science Saru. Nothing can beat old age and betrayal, and Section 9 is about to prove it.

Delta H Con: Steampunk Ball with Voltaire

Steampunk Ball event page for Delta H Con 2026 featuring Aurelio Voltaire and Addisyn Madd

Houston, your weekend orders have arrived. Delta H Con 2026 is on the ground right now, July 17 through 19 at the Marriott Westchase, and it has a dedicated Steampunk Track that would make the Formulae proud. The centerpiece: a full Steampunk Ball headlined by Aurelio Voltaire and Addisyn Madd, framed as an Un-Birthday Party complete with tea dueling, parlor games, and door mouse prizes. Because of course. The con’s art theme this year is Neuroverse: Code Houston (cyberpunk plus anime plus gaming plus space fusion), which is basically the Formulae running a five-way merge and daring you to argue with the output.

Unwoman is also on the schedule for two evening sets inside the Steampunk Track, which means you get cello-driven industrial folk AND Voltaire doing his delightfully macabre thing in the same building across the same weekend. For a three-day pass that apparently goes for $45, that is a frankly irresponsible amount of value. The Doctor does not make financial recommendations, but the Doctor also is not NOT making a financial recommendation here.

If you are in Houston and you are not at this convention, I genuinely cannot help you. Nothing can beat old age and betrayal. Via: Delta H Con

StinkPump Comic?

It’s a SteamPunk, SteamPump, StinkPunk, some kind of comic or graphic novel…  Anyways, this guy’s trying his hand at making himself a SteamPunk style comic.  The website [is GONE] shows several panels, but the comic itself seems incomplete; it looks like an active work-in-progress.

StinkPump

However, I did enjoy watching the video below the panels that showed a time-lapse sequence of the creation process; quite amusing, especially when the artist changes his mind.  You can see a strong Anime influence as well, but what are we trying to say with “stinkpump”?  Somebody let me know when it’s done so I can do a proper WIN/FAIL review.  Good luck finding my e-mail address…
